Reading style? Like a licorice allsorts

If I had to describe my favourite book genre, I’d be stuck for words. I have a pretty eclectic taste and often my mood plays a big part. I enjoy women’s contemporary fiction, crime fiction, thrillers, romance, gothic romance, children’s/young adult fiction, travel memoirs, and more. I have a particular liking for the food-related literary genre…mmmm. (That’s why I add “Bookish treat” to the end of each of my reviews, because I love the marriage of food and books!)

It’s probably easier to say that I don’t enjoy horror novels (although I did when I was younger) and I’m not a huge sci-fi or fantasy fan – but that doesn’t mean I will rule them out completely: Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbitare up there with my favourites.

Here are a few books that stand out for me: books i like

  • Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
  • Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
  • The Secret Garden – Frances Hodgson-Burnett
  • Jasper Jones – Craig Silvey
  • To Kill A Mockingbird – Harper Lee
  • Anne of Green Gables – L.M. Montgomery
  • Chocolat – Joanne Harris
  • Under the Tuscan Sun – Frances Mayes
  • Eat Pray Love – Elizabeth Gilbert
  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

Each of these holds a special place in my heart, for different reasons. I’m sure there are more that I need to add to the list!
